How Do I Disable or Delete a product?

There are two options when removing an item from your store. One is to delete the product permanently, the second is to disable the product. It is recommended to disable a product, so you can easily re-enable it, if it's stock is refilled at a later date. However, both options share a similar path to completion.
- Go under Catalog, and then Manage Products.
- Select the Store the product is featured in under Choose store view, This is important, as many products may have similar names throughout the site if you have multiple stores, and you want to be precise in deleting the product from the correct store only.
- Search for the item(s) under the Name column, using
the Search button found to the right hand side of the
screen. Verify it is the
correct product(s).
- If you have a Configurable product with sizes, you should see multiple products , with one being the Configurable product, and the others being the sizes associated with it. If it is a Simple product, where one size fits all and users cannot select a size, you will have one entry.
- Click Select All, on the left hand side of the screen.
Just below the Page number textbox.
- Here you have two options:
- Disable the product by going to
the right hand side, under the Search button you will
see an Actions dropdown box. Select Change status.
A new Status box will appear, select Disable from
the box. Click Submit. All selected items will now be
disabled, and not shown on the site.
- Delete products by going to the Actions dropdown box and selecting Delete. Click Submit. All selected items will now be deleted, and unrecoverable. Please use caution when selecting Delete, as they are permanently removed from the system.
